Karen Hernandez LCMHC, LCAS
Karen was born in Ohio but moved to St. Augustine Florida when she was young. Karen moved with her family to North Carolina in 2001 due to consistent hurricanes and fires. Karen has 4 children (Katarina -10 years old, Andres- 19 years old) living at home and 2 older children (Miguel Angelo, 22 years old, serving in the Air Force and Isaac, 27 years old, serving in the Army in Korea).  Karen and her husband ( Marcos Quezada) reside in Conover. Karen went to school at Lenoir Rhyne University. She has a Master’s degree in Human Services Program Development and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Karen has obtained two licenses: Licensed in Clinical Mental Health and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist.  Karen has had 8 years working with mental health and addictions. She has worked in various settings such as Support Incorporated Inc ( working with children and families), RHA ( children, families, adults and at high-risk youth), and she formerly had a private practice ( working with youth, families, and couples).
Aside from all this God has led her here. Jesus is the center of her life. Karen’s passion is to share the love and joy of Jesus Christ with others. God wants us all to be of sound mind and healthy bodies, and to have good relationships with others. Her vision for Discovery Counseling Ministry is to help people with the barriers in life so that they can have sound minds, healthy bodies, and develop and grow healthy relationships throughout our community through the love of Jesus. She desires for Discovery Counseling Ministry to be God’s conduit to the community to find strength in suffering and calmness in the storms.”
Her hobbies include cooking and eating different foods, walking, going to the YMCA, spending time with my family, roller skating/ rollerblading, getting involved in events that help the community, soccer/futbol.
