KEY TALKING POINTS:
We’re excited to share the latest update on the Discovery Church construction project! While timelines have shifted slightly, these changes set us up for greater efficiency, significant cost savings, and a smoother process overall. Every step brings us closer to the incredible new worship center that will serve our church family and community for years to come.
- New start dates: We’ve adjusted our construction start date by about six weeks. By sending more items into the permitting process now – beyond what’s strictly required – we’ll avoid duplicate work later and keep the project moving more smoothly overall.
- The big win – This approach prevents us from needing extra engineering work or making timeline extensions down the road. It’s a strategic decision that will save both time and money over the course of the entire project.
- The trade off – This adjustment does push the start of construction back roughly six weeks while permits are finalized, but it prevents longer delays and additional costs later on.
- Parking expansion: To keep our campus fully functional during construction, we’ve built a new gravel lot with 90 spaces along the loop road. This ensures we maintain full capacity for parking as the project moves forward.
- Walking paths: We’re creating new, safe walkways around the construction zone so that everyone can navigate the campus easily. More details will be shared next week as the paths are finalized.
- Construction fence installation: On September 22, a construction fence will go up around the project zone. This space will house equipment, materials, and work areas needed to build the new worship center safely and efficiently.
The new gravel lot (LOT G) has been completed.
The gravel for the lot has been placed, grass sown, and mulch placed. It looks really nice and will be able to accommodate at least 90 cars. Work will continue around the perimeter as a walking path is placed along the western side of the lot. The walking path will allow pedestrians to walk from LOT E, down the pipeline easement, along LOT G and then onto the loop road and up to the main building. The goal of installing this pedestrian walkway is to have four traffic avoid the narrow roadway that leads into LOT E and increase overall safety for everyone.
