Staff counselor (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), Charlotte Sharpe, was born and raised in Hickory, North Carolina. She graduated from Lenoir Rhyne University with a degree in Christian Education. She married Smith after shortly after graduating from college and later received her Masters of Art degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Appalachian State University. She has worked as a therapist at Foothills Mental Health with children and families, Sipes Orchard Home with teens and children, Hospice and Palliative Care of Catawba County with children grieving significant losses, and at Family Guidance Center with individuals, couples, teens, and children.

During a ten year period of being a stay at home mom, she volunteered as a Guardian ad litem, facilitated DivorceCare, and painted murals in various settings. She and Smith have three children, Beatty, Adele, and Lillian. Charlotte enjoys painting, hiking, furry pets and spending time in nature. She especially loves family time and moments spent with close friends. Charlotte considers it a joy to have been part of the church planting adventure of Discovery Church with Smith and her children. Her desire is to continue to serve in Children’s ministry at Discovery and watch the seeds of God’s love bloom in the children. She also desires to support Smith’s leadership vision for the church and to add a healing touch to the church’s mission of being a “river not a pond” in the community.
